Following his recent exploration in sound on recent singles, Ferry Corsten teams up with Ruben De Ronde for his latest output, ‘Bloodstream‘. With a longstanding history of exciting collaborations under his belt, this team-up is a perfect storm, as the pair come together following Ferry’s monthly residency on Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance, co-hosted by Ruben.
Both artists are no strangers to stepping outside of the box with their productions, exemplified by Ferry’s latest breakbeat-influenced single ‘High On You’ and last year’s ambient album ‘As Above So Below’ under his FERR alias. Simultaneously, Ruben De Ronde has always straddled progressive house, trance and a more chilled sonic aesthetic.
‘Bloodstream’ is a deep, dark and melody-focused masterpiece from two bonafide dance music mainstays and highlights both artists’ broad skillsets gained through years of experience in the studio. Several synth arpeggios combine seamlessly and shine alongside the soothing piano chords present throughout, and the vocal topline emphasises precisely the desired emotion underpinned throughout the song. The result is a melodic techno anthem that hits all the right notes.
On ‘Bloodstream’, Ferry said: “I have toured with Ruben many times throughout the years, and we have started working together a lot more closely since last year during A State Of Trance. During these times we’ve had lengthy conversations about music and what genres resonate with us. I have always liked Ruben’s take on the deeper sound and it was only a matter of time before we would hit the studio together. I am very pleased with the result here. It really is the deep, melodic and very emotive track I had hoped for. And David’s voice is the cherry on the cake. Hopefully this will be the first of many collabs to come.”
Commenting on the single, Ruben said: “Ferry has always been a huge inspiration, especially in the beginning of my career, so it’s great to work with him. It’s been a big highlight through these weird months. I also really like the path Ferry has taken music-wise, moving towards more progressive sounds, which is more fitting with my style. I think we have really put both our sounds in there, and David delivered a fantastic vocal for the track.”
As the world collectively dares to begin peeking through the curtain, Ferry Corstenand Ruben De Rondedisplay their broad musical palette and artistic evolution with ‘Bloodstream’. Over the years, both acts have succeeded in continually striving to innovate and push the envelope with their sounds. The result, ‘Bloodstream’, is the embodiment of that commitment to move forward and present fresh new sounds for their ever-receptive audience.
